    Acetone in your gas

So i recently heard that adding a little pure acetone to your gas will increase mpg. Anyone else heard this? if so, BS?

This link said it was not BS, I am confused?

But even if it wasn't, acethon is not that cheap at that amount for each tank refill.

Regardless, I have been using STP's Fuel Injector cleaner (around $1.77 @ Wal-Mart/Target) every other to every third fill up for about a year now and I can honestly say there is a noticable mileage improvement as well as increase in power. Frequent and stedy use of this type of chemical (made from jet fuel) not only keeps fuel lines/injector cleaner but also removes alcohol from fuel, making the fuel more efficient thus resulting in improved mileage and increase in horsepower.

I am guessing at least 5% in power and about 2-3 miles per gallon. So spending about $4 a month on this chemical saves me at least $10-$20 in gas per month and also gives my truck more power by using fuel more efficiently.

    No BS!

well, cause I was just joking on the first reply I was trying to get the pink dancing elephant to jump around in my post but oh well..

I've done alot of fuel aditive reading in the past and that one was my favorite, ontop of the fuel pre-heat vaporization turbocharged fiero that got 70+ mpg with loads of power.. If you do the work, you will KNOW... I like their last comment about tune ups "NO engine can operate efficiently without some acetone in the fuel."

I generally wouldn't put any chemical in the gas just cause some site or person recommended it. The only way I would put acetone in my tank is if I had already dropped a bottle of nail polish in there! lol

Haha...I beat you to the dancing pink elephant (if only you hadn't put any acetone in your car you might have beaten me!)

If everyone that stops by would post, perhaps this place wouldn't be so dead...
