    hijack log

I'm having problems with the wireless connection sometimes being cut off on my laptop and other programs turning off randomly. Could you please take a gander?

A quick look at your log reallly doesn't show that there is anything bad on your computer.
What programs specifically turn off? The wireless problem could be something as simple as loss of signal, that would be your wireless provider not the computer.

Well my computer runs fine until about an hour after booting it up when my xp suddenly takes the appearance of old school windows for a few seconds and then comes back to normal xp and then some things start to mess up. Then if I try to adjust my wireless connection it says "Windows cannot configure this connection" and then gives me a whole bunch of steps on how to reconfigure it. As well as the internet connection, my audio also becomes screwy. When I start iTunes it says that the audio is not configured properly and no songs will play.

It's not that big of a deal but I was hoping you'd notice something on the log, but hopefully it will just work itself out because none of my spyware or anti virus scans are finding anything.

Give us FULL information on the computer itself...hard drive size, how much RAM, how long has this been happening? Have you checked for updates to all your drivers...audio, video, etc.?

Ok here's the basic computer info:
    3.06GHz Pentium 4 processor
448 MB of RAM (most of which is used up regularly, usually only have about 90 free)
60 GB Hard drive (only 2.5 GB left)

The problem happened a few months ago but it kinda worked itself out and hasn't bothered me for a couple months, but now it's being very weird and a lot of things seem be be going wrong. I'm not a computer genius so I can't really explain everything, but there seems to be something messing around with my computer. I'm updating my drivers at the moment so hopefully that will help. Just for my knowledge, what does updating the drivers actually do?

Oh come on! What do you expect? We are not miracle workers here. I am not being a smart aleck, I am being real. To expect this computer to even boot up is expecting a lot. There is nothing I can offer that can make this computer work any better than it is...clean it up...reformat is the best I can offer.

Haha, alright I guess you're right because I deleted a lot of the things that were hoggin RAM (such as Object Dock, and a few other things), plus I deleted a few gigs of random stuff. Would you recommend to get more RAM and maybe an external hard drive for all my music and videos (about 35 GBs) or what?

External hard drive...maybe...but you know if you don't get this stuff off this drive you run the risk of losing it all. Burn it all to disks and get it off there. A hard drive only has so much space and then...if it is stuff you really want to keep then get it off the hard drive. You will lose it, without a doubt.
    Here is your clue.....
now it's being very weird and a lot of things seem be be going wrong
If this were your car doing this would you even consider driving it across country? No you wouldn't. Time is short if a lot of things seem to be going wrong. You may not have much chance to save this stuff if you don't get busy now. If it crashes, and it sounds to me like this is what it wants to do, then chances are very good that all will be lost.

Alright, suppose it is gonna crash... You'd recommend getting everything I want off of it, and then reformatting it or what?

Yep that would be what she is recommending. You have to think of your computer like a closet that is stuffed full.Every time you try to open the door to put something else in or take it out,you run the risk of having to clean up a big mess.It is always better to organize your things and make sure that you condense as much as you can.If you burn all your songs onto an MP3 disc, you can always play them on your system whenever you want to.Also one really has to look at is what they use on a regular basis and find somewhere to store those xmas decorations they only use once a year.Well that about uses up my list of comparisons.Hope all works out for you.
