Generally if you have a crappy heatsink and fan you would replace them with a better HSF before adding heatsinks/fans in other locations.

Also, you might find that the original heatsink isn't even seated poperly on the GPU, so at the very least you should try to get it off and have a look at what's underneath. Usually people find that the heatsinks are stuck to the gpu with either too much thermal paste, a crappy thermal pad, nothing at all or that the heatsink isn't flat.

RivaTuner is probably the sofware program to start of with, but make sure you don't push it too far. The key to oc'ing video cards is small 1-2Mhz steps then test for stability.

If an overclock actually drops the performance, it may not be as stable as you think. Just because it's not crashing doesn't mean that things are running fine. You might want to try lowering a bit and benchmarking it again.

Did you replace the HSF? Can you monitor GPU temps?

    Question Exactly

How do i monitor gpu temps?

i actually removed the original gpu fan from it and replaced with a big one.after which i was able to go further 5 mhz on both core and mem clocks on detect optimal frequencies mode.now i put the original fan back and another external fan over it.

ANOTHER THING MY videos especially xvid encoded vids run at 1 Frame per second after a few seconds of start.i dont no y.i removed old codecs and installed latest klite mega codec pack 2.76 (updated) version.it was ok for 2 days, now again it started to lag.first run of any video is always ok.from second time it starts to lag or whatever u call it.i say it as 1 fps.

Another one.I split an avi file with avi splitter software.this has done the work quite good but when i write it to disc and play it on my dvd player, there is no sound.the original one works.is there any way to fix the splitted files with audio? (no quality loss or no higher space encoding methods(atleast not more than 100 mb))
