Hi Wing and welcome to IANAG,

You will have to go into more detail and give us a whole a lot more info on the issue, when it started and what exactly it is doing, etc. because none of us here own a Crystal Ball and we are fresh out of fortune cookies!

Don't worry about it, for once I beat someone! Big deal!
You are doing a fine job from what I have been seing, besides I have been too busy to follow much of anything so do your thing as long as you feel you can help.

Now, even when I'm typing and not even touching the mouse, the mouse right-clicks at anytime. It's right-clicking even when I move the mouse around. When I don't touch anything on the computer, the mouse seems to still right-click. The only time the right-clicking stops is when I hold down the left-click.

There hasn't been any slowdown in the computer and I didn't download anything other than from windows updates so I don't know where the problem is coming from. My mouse is also several years old and I haven't had a problem with it.
Hardware components often goes bad in a short period of time so one day they could be fine and the next day going bunkers or simply dead!
One other factor to always consider is the software. Not saying you are infected or anything but one other software on this system could be causing this. Generally, the first and foremost one is the software that was bundled with the device.
Did you install such software for your mouse? If so, then try these 2 to see if it helps:
~ First check the vendor's web site to see if there is an update to the software, if it is several years old and you have not done that in a while, chances are there would be.
~ If the above didn't help then try uninstalling the software altogether then reboot to see if things look any better.
~ If still no good, the device itself could be bad. Check the Device Manager (can't give specific steps cause I do not know what version of Windows you have) to see if any issues were reported. I'd also advice checking the mouse vendor's web site (FAQs) section to see if the issue was already reported with an available solution, etc. for it.

Can you be more specific. What kind of mouse do you have, optical or roller ball?If you do suspect you are having problems, have you followed the steps in the sticky (read me before posting)? If you do have an optical mouse, have you tried uninstalling it's software and reinstalling it?These are the things the people here who can help are going to want to know.

Remove the mouse from the device manager. Shut down and reboot, let the computer find the "new" mouse and install it and see if this makes a difference.

As an addition to what I said earlier and what Jholland said, how about the routine cleaning of the mouse? This would generally cure erratic movement of the cursor, etc. and not so much the one of the mouse buttons appearing as 'clicked' but, opening the case and removing visible dust and dirt might actually help too.

    Just a thought.
