Do you honestly think that using a throw-away e-mail account is much of
a hurdle in using an otherwise open-access nntp server?

Not always. Take the "From the crest of Olivet" which traversed n umerous
groups of numerous hierarchies like Indy client did. You can't do that via
Google.
