    None of us would list programs to disable at Start Up that would cause problems for you if disabled. These all can be run manually when you want them.
    This info on Internet Explorer 7 from Microsoft Pages;
    The default security settings for Internet Explorer 7 provide you with a high level of security, while still enabling access to the Internet. However, some sites might require you to change your security settings to a lower level.
    This is more than likely the cause of your problems accessing sites and the like. This is probably where you are going to have to begin, and that would be adjusting the security levels of IE. By default, the security level in Internet Explorer for the Internet zone is set to Medium-High. This means that Internet Explorer puts certain restrictions in place to protect you when browsing the Internet. You might move it to Medium and see if this helps.

    Firewall
    Firewall was set to Medium High..
    I put it to medium and rebooted...

    >>> No change

    I still have a red X in Phishing Icon, located in the bottom right of the IE window. When I click on it, I still get windows error....."Phishing filter cannot check this website because MS online service is temporarily unavailable"

    I still cannot remain logged into websites...I sign in, all is ok, but when close IE and try to access the same web site, I have to log in again. This occurs with all websites

    I still cannot download files..

    New Hijack log...(I left a few in, since I have to figure out how to run these manually)..sorry....

    Are you actually reading the suggestions posted? What I said was this....
    This info on Internet Explorer 7 from Microsoft Pages;
    I said absolutely NOTHING about changing the settings in your Firewall. I did not mention your firewall.
    There is some sort of problem with your Internet Explorer 7. Either roll back to 6 or try a different browser. You CAN turn off the Phishing Filter in IE7
    To turn Phishing Filter off

    1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Internet Explorer.
    2. Click the Tools button, click Phishing Filter, then click Phishing Filter Settings.
    3. Scroll to the Phishing Filter section under Security in the list of options, click Disable Phishing Filter, and then click OK.

    Phishing Filter will not check or warn you about phishing sites now.

    thanx..
    Only reason I went to the firewall, is because I could not see any place where the security settings were...my error.. I reset them...

    Changing browsers...

    I tried to download firefox but keep getting the same error message about downloading. I tried to download it from cnet.

    In another thread, I copied the following:
    http://forum.networktechs.com/showthread.php?t=1140

    "How to Uninstall IE7:
    1. Go to Control Panel
    2. Click Add or Remove Programs
    3. Click Show Updates checkbox
    4. Click whatever version of IE7 you have. For example "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview"
    5. Click the Change/Remove button
    After you uninstall Internet Explorer 7, double-click the Internet Explorer icon to verify that Internet Explorer 6 is restored"

    My question is if I go through the IE7 uninstall, will IE 6 be there ?? Because if I deleted IE7 and IE6 is not on my system and I cannot download a browser, I have big problems..

    thank you for the guidance...I am a noob at this stuff....I do appreicate the advice..

    You were spot on !!! its almost fix'd...big thanx...

    I did download FireFox (from the other computer) AND I can now stay logged into sites and download stuff.

    I backrolled to IE6....... and I have the same issues with IE 6 as I did with IE 7.....but FireFox works....

    and I have to find where to download Outlook Express (I havent seen it yet a Microsoft)

    Only new problem is my when I go to copy (burn to DVD) a recorded TV show via Media Center, I get a non discript error message. Wonder if I have to manually startup one of the startup progs we disabled.

    thanx....almost done...

    If you do not have Outlook Express,there may be a way to install it without having to DL it.I found a launch outlook application in:C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch.
    I am running ME,but I figure all microsoft operating systems should have the same,except Vista.The higher ups here should be able to tell you if this application will install Outlook on your sysytem,but it's a place to start without having to search for something that most systems already have.
