You should hear him on the phone Kurt. Especially if you call him at work
and tell him who you are and what the call is regarding. He becomes very
nervous Like a little schoolkid who's been busted.

Yep. I told you I called him at home and at work. I guess you didn't
    believe me.

I'm going to explain. If not for your benefit, for others who might not
be aware of it. Yes, I called him with regard to something he had
written about my BugHunter program. I didn't appreciate the comment, nor
the dare to "do something" about it. By dare I mean he invited me to
call him, if I could. So, I did. First, I tried the number for his
house. He wasn't home, but I did speak with his brother. He was a very
polite fellow. I told him who I was, and he explained that his brother
has issues which have gotten far worse since an auto accident he
suffered. He apologized to me for the comments his brother had written.

That was cool. But, it didn't really get the message to Patrick. That's
TRT's real first name, btw. PCbutts=trt. So, I tried the number I had
for his work. I got him on the first try; He was manning a helpdesk for
    technical support.

As soon as I told him who I was, his voice became very high pitched.
Like a school kid. He wasn't quite the dick I knew from usenet over the
phone. Polite, but I knew he was rattled to be hearing from me. I
explained why I was calling; it was in reference to some comments he'd
written about BugHunter which were not true. I wanted him to know, that
I could, pursue it; I did know who he was. Instead of a usenet flamewar,
    I just dialed him up.

The conversation was very short as he explained he had to go. he didn't
hangup on me tho, and I appreciate that. He showed a limited amount of
    respect there.

A few hours later on usenet (I guess he got home) he wrote a post
threatening me should I *ever* call him on a private line at work again!
It was some government number, top secret. Typical pcbutts bull****. He
works at a helpdesk. The number isn't top secret. It's the JPL center--
I'm unsure how it's a government place itself tho. I don't think it is.

Doesn't much matter. I didn't call him out of spite, I had a legitimate
reason as a software author. I wanted him to know that should I, in the
unlikely event, pursued it legally. I would be able to serve the papers
and see him in a court room as I knew who he was and where he lived and
where he worked. I did my homework. I had a program to defend and my
reputation as an honest coder as well. Btw, BugHunter is still available
for download and nothing since it was released has happened with
malicious intent. IOW, It's never crashed a computer or deleted someones
hard disk. You can't find any malicious software authored by me after
the year 2000. My clean! track record since then under the most extreme
    scrutiny speaks for itself.

Nothing you can do. Post all the old trash you think is new or somehow
matters in todays world. Make more of an ass of yourself in the process.
