    ShowMyPC3105

This is a bit off topic but I'm sure there's some of you that have used
ShowMyPC to help others out. It has always worked well for me with Windows
XP. However, they've just come out with a new version, 3105, which has
created havoc for me in two instances already. Both times were on older
model Dells. After using it and rebooting, the computer monitor came up
black with a "video type not supported" (or something similar) message
floating around. Both of them booted OK in Safe Mode and I notice that it
had added a tightvnc entry in msconfig. I wasn't aware that ShowMyPC had
any provisions for restarting once closed. I removed that entry and
uninstalled the video card and then rebooted. Windows went online and
located the right drivers for the video card again and all was well.

With Vista and Windows 7 UAC is famous for kicking you out of ShowMyPC so I
have now switched to TeamViewer which works well with those. It's a little
bit "spammier" than the others but it does the job.

Since this BD character has pretty well turned the group into a zoo, I
didn't figure this off topic post would make it any worde!

Moving to Teamviewer was wise... besides it's FREE.

I've been using TV for over a year now, and it's about the best I've
found. The only video issue is that it temporarily nukes the wallpaper
if you go for the 'optimize speed" option. That can freak out the n00b
    at the other end.

I'm trying to put my mind around "spammier" tho....
They do want you to buy the paid version, so they nag you a bit. I can
put up with that for getting stuff like this for free.

Maybe you need to use "naggy" instead. spam's a fighting word unless
    it's the meat product.
