A local food store recommended me to a new lady customer. I did some network
setups for them and trained the owner's wife and son on how to use a computer
years back. I started some virus scans for her and went home. She only lived
about 4 min from me. I made some updates to my site and she called me when
they finished running. All in all, about 30 minutes of effort is a good day.
Hey, you could have charged $200 for that.

If you want to know more, it's explained in this thread last year.

Geek Squad doesn't do the kind of stuff I do. Today I was in an
OfficeMax setting up their PC repair department. I had to install
a separate network from the point of sale and store administration
system so no cross contamination is possible. The store we did in
Mississippi had an AT&T DSL internet link but the one we did today
used a cute little G3 modem because the provider didn't have DSL in
the area. Everything hooks into a laptop sized Cisco router that
locks everything down. Next time you're in an OfficeMax store look
for their PC repair kiosk and work area. Independent contractors like
me had to install it. How good they are/going to be, I don't know but
it seems like there is a lot of hand holding software involved a lot
like the Geek Squad apps. I will find out due to the number of systems
I'll wind up installing or repairing. ^_^

Sometimes I do security work for cheap like I did for a lady customer I can

Everyone in the valley that did tech support saw their buisness drop off
after GS showed up. Who can compete with a huge company that pays their
hires 9 bucks an hour? Its like MallWart.
