Atari Pong was never my scene, instead I saved up for a TRS-80.

This group was started as a phone phreaking group. The 2600 is from the
2,600 cycle per second tone once used for trunk switching in the old
Bell Telephone switching systems. As I remember the whistle once given
away in Captain Crunch cereal produced a perfect 2,600hz tone and was a
favorite item for phreakers. I remember Bell Labs and Northern Telecom
developing equipment to detect counterfeit 2600 tones then alert "the
    man". ^_^

Froz said "this froup a2600, is about Atari computers, beer, and b00bies."
I said I saved up for a TRS-80 instead of getting an Atari. Have you got a

Who are you kidding? All you got was the Cap'n Crunch whistle that fell in

One of the areas I work in is telecommunications so I know a lot of
phone guys and we share a lot of information. I use special numbers
all the time when I'm installing phone systems and DSL for networks.
We don't spread the special numbers and codes because bright little
kids get hold of them and not being socially mature and in possession
of any inhibitions will abuse the numbers and codes until the numbers
are cancelled making our lists useless meaning we have to start our
collections all over again. I own and use a crosscut shredder for any
paperwork I toss in the trash. Because I keep information within the
circle of people who work on phone systems for a living, most of my
numbers have worked for years. ^_^
