    Using free SuperAntiSpyware

WTF does it keep on hanging when I close my pc ?

Does this issue only affect the free version ?

(Sorry, I don't have a pooter with SAS installed at hand, so I can't
    provide specifics)

How long does it hang? (or does it totally halt closing?)
If it's only 10-20 seconds, I'd live with it.

One possible, are you trying to run 2 competing malware-specific
security apps *at startup*? This often cause issues like this. The
problem is that some do play nicely with others, some don't. There's no
good list of which will/won't, and it changes all the time.

That's not uncommon on security software. There's a lot of "stuff"
running in the background that needs to shut down in a specific order.

As with many Windows apps (and *^& windows in general) uninstalling and
reinstalling may improve or fix this. If you have any custom exclusion
lists, etc save them as textfiles before you uninstall.

To uninstall, always use the application's own removal tool that's
downloaded as a separate app from the vendor's website (if available).
It's the most current, and better than the uninstall that comes with it.

The next best is a good standalone uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller,
and I'd recommend installing Revo instead of the (next best) "uninstall
that comes with it" or (last choice) Windows "Add-Remove Programs".

You are in luck, SAS has an uninstaller:

Pick which version of windows and proceed.

Just me, but always do a reboot before reinstalling.

    Reinstall....

Put your custom exclusions (if any) back in, should be good.

    Just some more on that.

About the only thing that gets updated/patched more often than security
apps is Windows.... so there are many chances for small errors to creep
in, whether it's just the security app, just Windows, or a combo of both.

The version of SAS (or any security app) that you installed months or
even years before may have gone thru dozens of engine updates, let alone
hundreds of database updates. You'd be surprised at how many patches
are "unpatches" to correct previous "miscalculations".

Installing a fresh version means you are getting the least cumulative
errors from "pushed" patches, as the patches that need unpatching are
    left out entirely.

Sorry if my instructions on the uninstall/reinstall process was so wordy
and dragged-out. I try to make these diatribes fit more than just your
situation. What you got was intended to cover about any un/re install,
    doesn't matter what app.

    What OS are you running?
Uninstall SAS reboot and install the latest version and update its defs.
May or may not help, but it doesn't take long to do.
The free version should not hang, unless you are doing a scan or a
definition update at the time. SAS free does not monitor in real time so
there must be a faulty install or other problem.
I use the paid version and update manually and run SAS in real time with no
    hangup problem. I use Win2000ProSP4.
