In spite of the fact that there's quite a bit of "personal" discussion,
not related to spyware, in this newsgroup, you should probably take a
few minutes to read other posts where questions like this have been
asked, and answered.

Two programs that are usually highly recommended are:

MalWareBytes Anti-Malware, available (free) at www.malwarebytes.org
SuperAntiSpyware, available (free) at www.superantispyware.com

Do not download either package from other sites. There are many
lookalike sites.

If these packages won't run you are more heavily infested. You should go
back and look through the posts for anything by David H. Lipman. He is
well-respected and has walked lots of people through bad problems.

True, a good restore option is always a good thing - and it
works for hardware failure too.
