    @ Graham

I have no wish to mislead you - there is *no* mention of a text file
    being malicious.

I've mentioned elsewhere that to actually *GET* the text file, one has
    to physically visit a URL.

*That* is where one may be hit by malware surreptitiously - the URL.

Here's the link again to explore

    A mistake I'm afraid! :-(

It was meant only for the 'alt.comp.freeware' group.

    > Are you deliberately showing us that not only do you not know the subject matter but you

I've answered that in the freeware ng. Viz:

You are *very* clever, Mr Lipman. Some folk here will wonder just *how*
you knew the make of my camera!

They might not be aware, either, that modern cameras now often capture
one's GPS location - so that the exact place the picture was taken may
be viewed. Quite a security risk for many folk, don't you agree?

Nope. I learn things every day - especially when folk are *helpful*.

Try it - tell me which statement(s) made here is/are incorrect:-

This is a serious question, David.

Why, ****? At least I know enough to know that plain text files are

I don't want to fall out with folk about this, but *please read here*.

    http://mobile.eweek.com/c/a/Security...-Users-114208/

To *GET* the text file, one *has* to visit a URL.

"Almost half of Internet users believe it is necessary to actually do
something on a rogue Website to be infected, when many attacks can
trigger drive-by downloads just by loading the page."

If nobody ever *checks* the Hosts file *URL* to *ensure* that a visitor
has not inadvertently triggered an *unseen* download in addition to the
text file, users *may never know they have been hit*.

Exactly the same thing applies in visiting Annexcafe or Aumha. If one's
AV is not triggered, folk will be unlikely ever to know their machines
    are infected.

    I'm happy to discuss further.

    Dave.
