    What's up with Webroot's SpySweeper?

Seems like I've had it forever, but lately is simply doesn't "run",
just sits there "loading". Nothing is enabled, so all I see is the shell,
and the program entries in Task Manager. 'Course when I try to
end the process I get slapped down as not having privileges.

Uninstalled it twice and re-installed to the Prog Files (x86),
but still it just sits there "loading".

Now I've uninstalled it again. Should I just bag it?

    P. S. As you'd expect you get NO help whatsoever from their
support folks. Hey, they've got my purchase price money,
    why should they care?

Try the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware for as long as you
    wish:

Or if you'd like the PRO version, Fry's Electronics has a rebate offer:

    Horse****!

I had the paid version on my comp for over two years. Damn thing
never caught anything. AVG was catching junk in warez downloads all
the time, it's catches tested against the findings on the VirusTotal
site. It was a judgement call with some of the signals on VirusTotal,
but my point is, MalwareBit**** hardly ever caught anything. It was a
rarity. About all it could do with complete certainty was not to play
nice with other programs on boot up. It's a the latest p.o.s.
overhyped by the "elite" in-crowd. SuperAnti****ware is even worse
and more useless than MalwareBit****. But that's for another post.

    <<chuckle>>

Yeah, like I'm really going to take advice from someone who compares
antimalware programs against an antivirus program and is surprised when
they have different results. Then you support your conclusion by
comparing the same antimalware programs against other antivirus programs
and find similar results. Sorry, apples and oranges arguments don't
    impress me at all.

Personally, I find MBAM to be one of the best out there at what it
does (here's a hint - it's NOT an antivirus program). Superantispyware
is not quite as good a scanner, but I like the extra tools in the
Repairs tab. FWIW - I've purchased pro versions of both programs and I'm
not a part of any "elite" in-crowd. As far as "playing nice" with other
programs, I did have one system that had trouble with MBAM and NOD32
which I never did get resolved. I've installed that same combo and a
variety of others on dozens of other systems though with no trouble at all.

think that you are. Wishful thinking eh Fitz

Try to run a good malware scan with the free versions of MBAM and SAS to see
if there is a problem with something preventing SpySweeper from running.
Also a good anti-virus scan. If it all comes out good, try uninstalling the
program again and go back to a restore point where it was working, if
possible. You didn't state your OS.

PS: Have you tried Webroot's forum?
