You can use Sandboxie to run just the web browser and keep things away from
the OS. It will run any program sandboxed. Velly niiiice.

Thank for that. I've kept it for future reference (it's only for Windows!)

ESET now has Cybersecurity for a Mac - I've downloaded a 1 month trial

    Nothing found in two scans!

Yet I have been running Windows since 3.1 and I never had a virus yet. I
believe I know the reason for this. And that is some people don't know
how viruses get on your system to begin with.

Go on then, Bill - spill the beans! ;-)

Eager minds yearn to know the secret of *your* success!

Personally, I've always tried to follow the guidance provided here:-

Most people know what causes pregnancy too. But they keep on doing it
    anyway.

Hey! Don't be mad! I've got _Windows_ machines too. ;-)

I spend much of my time in the summer on board my 60ft narrowboat and
currently use an Acer laptop with Windows XP when boating. My Mac has to
stay at home! I do still need to know about the registry.

I very much appreciate the time and trouble you have spent helping me
with your comments. Thank you, 'thanatoid'.

Thank you for your comments, Bill. I wish I'd known all about this kind
of thing 10 years ago! You'll be pleased to know that I've learned much
from helpful folk like you. Thanks.

I had to 'Google' for that -I'd not come across it before!
