    hex ?

What do you mean when you say, practice safe hex? I read it somewhere here
and now I lost the thread.

    From the omni-present Tony Klein
    (http://www.geekstogo.com/how-did-i-g...e-first-place/)

I do not prescribe to all the content but it makes basic sense as to how not to get
infected and keep it that way.

    Its a parody of words.

Humans are told to practice Safe Sex. Safe Sex practices reduce the possibilities of
pregnancies but more importantly reduce the risks of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).

Hex is short for Hexadecimal. A numbering system of Base 16 common to computers where you
start at '0' and go to 'F' which represents Fifteen.

Thus comes the parody of Safe Hex.

Safe Hex practices reduce the possibilities of computer infections which are viruses and
    other malware.

thanks for the link. I read it, but have a couple questions.

    - how do I know when to allow an activeX control to run? I'm not exactly
    sure what they are.
    - Which programs are more highly recommended, especially in #10 and 11.

    lurking dm.

I've had good luck with Avast Free.

I use an old version of Zone Alarm but I can't recommend newer versions
since I'm not familiar with them.

And I'm not sure about activeX control.

More people should come along with their suggestions and then you get to
make decisions tailored to your needs.

I use SeaMonkey as my web browser, mail and newsgroup software. I use IE
    only when forced to.
