There are switches to turn on and off a quote <q> </q> which can also be
used to turn on and off sarcasm or TIC tongueincheek <TIC> </TIC>.

Of course, I also believe that you can't just use TIC or even OMG omigod
on the assumption that everyone knows what that means.

I beieve that ambiguity and other lack of clarity and understanding are
a big big problem in this type of medium exchange, and so therefore
everyone should go to a little extra trouble to make themselves
    perfectly clear.

It isn't that much trouble to spellout some quaint abbreviation, such as
    IAWTP Iagreewiththispost

<TIC> You almost always make yourself absolutely clear, Mike! </TIC>

    Hahaha! You do, actually!

Thanks. When stuck, I invariably resort to the Urban dictionary!

No. That dictionary isn't a good one, especially for usenet
abbreviations. That urbandictionary is more like a blog-wiki where
people get to use/enter their own definitions for things.

In this specific example, there are 4 entries by various people, one of
whom/which is correct, one of whom/which is 'half' correct and half
zany, and two of which are totally zany.

That isn't my idea of a good resource. You might compare it to BD
getting advice from PF about something.

I actually agree - but it *has* helped me!
