If the windows user followed safe hex and didn't run as admin all the
time, this wouldn't be a huge issue.Sadly, most windows users don't
follow safe hex. The majority of persons I encounter don't even want to
know how the machine works, they just want it to. Linux isn't going to
help those people. They're doing good to learn enough about windows to
use it.

Hackers are generally only very weakly motivated by conventional rewards
such as social approval or money. They tend to be attracted by
challenges and excited by interesting toys, and to judge the interest of
work or other activities in terms of the challenges offered and the toys
they get to play with.
