Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites

Do you have "Spyware" on your system? Parasites or an Unwanted Search
Engine Toolbar? Don't panic -- this is a learning experience on how some
of these so-called friendly companies treat you as a valued customer!
Many of us are totally amazed (including myself) at just how sneaky and
underhanded some of these companies are.

It's easier to periodically clean up malware than learn a new
    operating system.

It's even easier to learn a new operating system once, than to
periodically clean up malware for the rest of the computer's life.

That's one. And it _still_ needs to be activated by an inept user (such
    as yourself).

There's an awfully long climb to reach the half-million malwares level
affecting Windows users, many of which can be initiated by simply opening
an email message or visiting a web page.

    http://press.pandasecurity.com/news/...onths-of-2010/

"One third of all computer viruses that exist were created in the first 10 months of 2010
The Collective Intelligence database, Panda Security’s system for automatically detecting,
analyzing and classifying files, now holds 134 million samples, 60 million of which are
malware (viruses, worms, Trojans and other threats)

Between January and October this year, hackers have created 20 million new variants, the
same amount as in the whole of 2009

The average number of threats received every day by PandaLabs has risen from 55,000 to
    63,000"

The fact is the preponderance is for the Microsoft Windows Operating System.

Indeed, I can read *and* I comprehend. It's why I have an iMac.

I'm probably a typical computer user - yes, inept! ;-)

I read the whole article. Did you?

    I'm also using .........

Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac – part of Sophos Endpoint Security and Data
Protection – provides protection for both Intel-based and PowerPC-based
Macintosh servers, desktops and laptops. It detects Mac and non-Mac
viruses hidden on Mac computers and is easy to manage in both all-Mac
    and mixed environments.

What protection are *you* employing, BTS?
