    What value does it have?

Anymore every time I come here ususally half the posts are m bunch of
"BD" drivel. He's always starting subjects about crap just to try and
make people thinks he knows something about anything. And the worst part
of it is that the regulars who "do" know something keep feeding him. Now
he's flaming and cross posting crap about people lying and all the other
usuall bull****. It is not even good entertainment anymore.
Damn, I wish he'd just automagically go away!

You speak the truth. The man is beyond help.

Doesn't your newsreader have the capability to press 'K' or 'I' or
something and kill the whole thread(s) .. including any future posts to
it? Works wonders and the group is quiet. You could also kill/delete
all posts where that awful scorched-earth place is in the newsgroup
    list.

    http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/software/winvn/winvn.html

As I recall when I looked before, that newsreader sucks. Nothing at
    http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/software.../wvnguide.html about
defining rules or filters. That means you will waste time with lots of
posts that are spam, trolls, ranting children, diary entries, off-topic
posts, malcontents, cross-posts to flame or garbage groups, fanatics
(religious, Windows, Linux, etc), and other undesirable posts or the
sources for them. You can't even filter out the Google Groupers to get
rid of the major source of Usenet spam. Start reconsidering what
newsreader you use to participate in Usenet.

You're screwed until you get a newsreader where you can define rules to
    filter out the noise.

Don't worry. I just use this antique for a little anonymity!
I am pretty much of a regular here and I really don't want to get on "his"
    list.. :-)

Yes, WinVn sucks. But back when I started out, that's about all there was. I
don't remember if Outlook Express even did news back then. But then that
would *really* be as low as you could go.
