    Dustin,

*Did* you *TEST* it to see if there was anything else *with* it, or just
'go with the flow'? I don't care about this for myself, but on behalf of
others. I want folk to be safe - that's all.

Surely that's not being obnoxious in any way. *YOU* are the expert and
*might* just determine something which others cannot. If you confirm
that you *have* done all that you can to double check the link and find
nothing, I'll let the matter drop. I hope that is fair.

I'm trying to smooth our relationship so bring to your attention another
    post on 24hsh <ndWdnVGMion4TFDRnZ2dnUVZ7oednZ2d@bt.com>
where your past comments about Uniblue to me have been mentioned. It's
quite a long thread again now!

The link 'looked' live (blue) in Google Groups (apart from the http://
part, which was grey)) and one can click on the blue part and be whisked
    away to ......

    Not Found

    The requested URL
    /www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&displayLang=pt-pt
was not found on this server.

The obfuscated link is certainly not 'live' on my iMac!

For the last time. That link from Microsoft for the Portuguese SP3 is a bonafide
link and nothing wrong with it except in your Trolling head. Go away and get a life.

    Many thanks, Dustin!

    Ooops! It's not from Dustin.

OK Peter Foldes. I'll expect no further contact from you. There is no
longer any need for you to read any more posts on this group.

You could do everyone a favor and quit poking his paranoid/stupid arse
with sticks. STOP telling him horse**** and nobody will have to explain
    why it's horse****. Ok?

It used to be somewhat amusing, but now, he's posting nonsense after page
    of nonsense. Please stop.

What in the hell is wrong with you? It's an offline (network install)
edition of service pack3. I really see no reason to humour you with
    this nonsense.

Are you high? Really, have you been sniffing gas or something?
The link is fine, you trollish *******.

    > I'm trying to smooth our relationship so bring to your attention

    Your doing what?

    > The obfuscated link is certainly not 'live' on my iMac!

Have you considered the possibility that the returned 'link' you got is
malformed in some fashion? What's that? No? I didn't think so.

Piss off, you trollish stalkerish old fart.

I'll take that as a *no* then, shall I? ;-)

    > It's an offline (network install) edition of service pack3.

I imagined that my initial query could have been *simply* answered but
AFAICT no one has advised *why* with this particular link the .exe file
is *automatically* downloaded to a computer without any user interaction
(i.e. no need to press a 'download button').

Maybe, Dustin, you have just nailed the reason.

Could it be because, as you say above, it's an offline (network install)
    edition?

    Might that be the explanation?
