It's good to help others. You must be a happy and contented man.

It's been inspirational to have you as a mentor!

    Enjoy your weekend.

    Grumble grumble...

Did I tell you that I finally got my motorcycle back from the shop
($538), and one cylinder stopped working on the way home?

Well, I brought it back to the shop where they said it would be repaired
under the original work order (re-do) at no further cost to me. They
warrantee their work. I brought it back in on Saturday (they are always
closed on Sunday and Monday). Monday, I find out that they went out of
business as of closing on that Saturday (the 4th) when I brought it in.

Well, I hunted it down and got it back again, the tech said it probably
still only runs on the one cylinder. I rode it home on *both* cylinders,
but it leaks gasoline profusely (until I shut off the petcock) - but at
least it does so in my own garage.

I live with my mother and sister now, so working on it in the comfort of
the living room is out of the question. (

Didn't you change jobs so you could move in and help take care of your
    mother?

Yes and no. I was Chief Technician for Bell Electronics in Gardena,
California and left there to go back to New Hampshire when my father was
diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. My mother (13 years his junior, but
now older than he was when he died) needs my support now.

You are a good man, FTR.

I discussed your predicament with your motorcycle in detail with Mrs BD
earlier today (yesterday, now!) - but failed to come and tell you what
we'd said! So sorry about that.

I'm quite sure you could tackle your bike problems yourself if you did
but try. There is much expertise lurking in this SE group should you
need advice on what to do to fix it! Better than asking on the 24hr
    helpdesk I'm sure!

Let us know how you get on.

I am no stranger to the internal combustion engine myself, and as it
happens I have been getting more time off from work for such activity.

Motorcycle and automotive maintenance and repair was a former hobby of
    mine.

My son is a real hobbiest when it comes to all of that stuff, too. There
isn't a car he's ever had that he didn't take it apart and put it together
again under 5 times a piece. There always seems to be a part he wants to
replace with an upgrade part ... add bells and whistles to it ... raise it
or lower it ... get new wheels or swap parts with buddies. He went to an
auction once and bought a car for $100 and fixed it up and sold it for like
$1000. <shrugs> I just want a car I can put the key in and it'll start
every time, has good AC and Heat and is safe to drive. The last thing I
want is to put it in the shop to mess with it. If it works.. there isn't
anything else to fix! leave it alone LOL ... not him ... he's got to be
messing with his cars every chance he gets... lol
