    Proxy server settings

I've noticed lately (as I'm sure some of you others have) that some of
these rogue antivirus/antispyware installations are setting up a proxy
server entry in Internet Explorer which blocks or redirects internet
traffic. I don't remember how I first stumbled on to it but it is one of
the first things I check now. Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware are my
first tools to use and so far (as of today) neither of them detect or
    repair that setting.

Happens all the time. This is why I launch IE after very malware removal
session. If it works then chances are everything is fine. If it doesn't load
a page, I check the connections and sure enough the proxy is turned on. On
the other hand, Mozilla will load pages, proxy or no.

Having a proxy enabled isn't a bad thing per se, so having an anti-
malware program simply remove a proxy would not always be the right
    behavior.

On every occasion i have come across this, the proxy box is actually has no
entry other then the tick, if the anit malware programme can detect that,
then it shouldnt be a problem.
