That's true, slower but not by much with these new dual core processors and virtualization. It really helps if you have lots of memory to divy up between the different virtual machines.

Still not my cup of tea though. I prefer the dual/multi boot method.

With the price of macbooks these days, I will definitely take a longer look at them next time I upgrade my laptop, but my e1505 serves me just fine and XGL is about as much eye candy as I can handle at the moment.

since mac is now using x86 processors, I would suspect it wont be long before apple compiles the mac os for the x86 processors.
maybe a bios change to make it only run on mac hardware.

Well...running windows on a mac isn't illegal, especially if you have a windows license. You don't have to do dual boot. You can run them parallel, one of the guys at work just bought a new macbook and I tell you what...windows runs faster on that than it does on out P4's...

you'll never "officailly" run OS X on regular PC hardware because of EFI. The hackers (criminals) have found a way to bypass it to install it. This is why it is not completely stable.

If running Windows on Mac hardware were illegal, MS would have been all over them in a heartbeat. If anything, it helps them sell more software.

Yup to both of you. MS loves that MAC can run it, more money for them.

And they are making it so OS X will run on the x86 processor. I don't remember for sure, but I'll ask my mac guy and see what he says...

Pretty Much any new laptop with a core duo processor will run windows faster than a P4. I know my laptop with a 2.0ghz core duo is the fastest computer i have ever owned (can't wait to swap in a merom t7200 though), and we all have owned quite a few computers in our day. I was able to test OS X on my e1505 and it is nice. Probably nice enough that I will likely be looking at MacBook's the next time I upgrade. I really like the idea of being able to run any OS natively and as of right now, only the Mac's give you that option. OS X can be rigged to run quite well on wintel machines, especially if you do your homework and configure the system with specs similar to the MacBooks, but now that Apples prices have come down and are at or near those of similar machines, the MacBooks are very appealing.

I may have to look into a mac if I buy another computer...

I am becoming quite fond of having the company by my computers.
