    CPU upgrade

I want to upgrade my dual processor motherboard by upgrading just the processors. The motherboard is a few years old but firmware and so forth have been updated. On my intel based PC what would be available to me?
I thought of Intel's newest Core 2 Duo. Is this even possible or would I have to upgrade even the motherboard?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Probly looking at replacing the processor/motherboard, video card, power supply and memory. It bight be better to just build/buy a whole PC/MAC then backup your data to the new machine.

I'm with cauzomb here. If the board is a few years old, it's probably got an outdated CPU socket. All of the new dual-core CPU's have different sockets.

Even if it is a couple year old motherboard, that uses LGA 775, it still wouldn't work. You'd have to have a chipset that supports the newer processors.
