    Question about RAM

    Hi guys,

I am currently running Windows 7 32-bit and thinking about adding on some ram or trading off my ram. I currently have 3x1GB ram, looking to switch it to 2x2GB ram. My question is this: would I be able to make full use of the 4GB ram in Windows 7 32-bit? I've read that people switch to 64-bit for Windows to recognize the full 4GB. Is this true, or would the system still utilize the 4GB but windows doesn't show it?

I understand that this is the hardware section but given that nobody has bothered to answer my post (posted back in SEPT 2010, but in Operating Systems), I thought I'd try here..

Thank you for the response cauzomb.

So to clarify, there is absolutely no way I would be able to get Win7 32bit ultimate to recognize 5GB+ on my system unless I upgrade to Win7 64bit, correct?

It will recognize it, it just wont make use of it.

... it's kind of like putting a spoiler on a front wheel drive car
